A lot of people who look up NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) do it after they've already started paying attention to training, recovery or general fitness. The logical next question is whether an NAD+ precursor like NMN has anything to do with exercise performance or recovery. This article lays out what's known, what's still being studied, and where we draw the line so nothing here overstates what a food supplement can do.

What NAD+ has to do with energy metabolism

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme every cell uses in energy metabolism, and levels are known to decline with age. NMN is a precursor the body can use to make NAD+. That's a description of normal cell biology — it is not a claim that taking NMN changes how you perform in the gym, how fast you recover, or how much energy you'll feel during a workout. We don't have permission to make performance or recovery claims for NMN, and we won't imply them.

What the current research says (and doesn't say)

Human research on NMN and exercise outcomes specifically is still early and mixed. Some small studies have looked at NMN alongside exercise programmes in specific populations, but results are not consistent or large enough to support a general claim that NMN improves exercise performance or speeds recovery.
